Vanquish Pro has both protein and carbohydrate in the matrix to attract a wider variety of ants, and it holds its moisture longer, so the ants get a longer feed once it is placed.

How to apply

Remove the cartridge from the vacuum bag, cut the tip and load it into a caulking gun. Squeeze small amounts of bait at intervals of 1.5–2.5 metres into cracks, crevices and shady places where ants are working, or into short pieces of hose or irrigation tube to keep it out of the weather. Shady spots slow evaporation. Baiting outside is usually enough – it draws the ants to it. The larger the area you bait, the better the result, so get the neighbours involved if the ants are coming from next door.

Keep pets off the treatment area for 24 hours. Once the vacuum bag is opened the bait has a short shelf life; refrigeration helps a little. Put out enough bait to start with – ants can become bait shy if it is used on and off.

Roughly how much you need

• Light to medium infestation: one 325 g cartridge treats about 1,000 m² (a quarter-acre block)
• Heavy infestation: two cartridges for the same area
• An acre (about 4,000 m²) needs 4 cartridges light-to-medium, or 8 if the infestation is heavy
